TEMPE, AZ (Tucson News Now) -
Five contestants Southern Arizona have entered the Miss Arizona United States pageant Sunday at the Tempe Center for the Arts.
The pageant features five divisions, with crowns for Junior Teen (ages 13-15), Teen (16-19), Miss (20-29), Ms (25-50) and Mrs. (21-plus and married) contestants.
Contestants from Southern Arizona include Oro Valley's Natasha Johnson (Teen division), Miss North Tucson Ameryssa Leon, Miss Tucson Samantha Esquivel, Mrs. Tucson Josie Larger and Mrs. Pima County Emily Call.
Miss United States was founded in 1937. It gives state winners an opportunity to promote a platform of community service.
Winners of Miss Arizona United States will compete in the national pageant July 2-7 in Washington.
