Man surrenders after SWAT situation in Oro Valley

ORO VALLEY, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A 34-year-old man surrendered Sunday morning after barricading himself inside a home for two hours after a family fight, Police Lt. Kara Riley told Tucson News Now.

Family members escaped the home near Naranja Drive and First Avenue after the fight began around 6:30 a.m., Riley said.

The suspect, Angel Ruperto Canava, initially came out of the home before barricading himself inside, Riley said.

The Pima County Regional SWAT team arrested Canava in the 600 Block of East Strada Patania and took him to the Pima County jail, Riley said. He faces domestic violence charges.

Oro Valley Police and the SWAT team were on the scene for investigation, Riley said.
