It seems like everyone is on social media these days, using it to grow a business or simply interact with friends.
The latest group to jump on the bandwagon: Doctors.
Dr. Edward Schloss is a cardiologist at Christ Hospital. Despite working 60 hour work weeks, he always finds time to send a tweet.

Turns out, so do some of his patients when they look him up online.

talking about. It's very technical stuff," revealed Schloss.
With nearly 1,000 followers, Dr. Schloss says tweeting is his way to keep up with the world.
"I can reach other people like me. I can reach other people in my field, not just
doctors, industry people, nurses that do what I do, health care journalists," said Schloss.
He is one of the few cardiologists using social media in 2013. Schloss says on Twitter, there are maybe 10 to 20 heart doctors tweeting at most. Despite the rarity, Twitter has even helped him with his patients.
the moment something happens you can learn about it. It does translate into
being able to be current and be able to provide people something that's not always cutting edge necessarily but things that have hit the main stream, and you'll hear about it before anybody else, " he added.
It's not just Twitter that has been a new driving force in the medical world. Christ Hospital Communications Manager Micheal Beauchat says their Facebook has been 'liked' by more than 4,000 patients. He says Facebook is a great way to 'build loyalty among patients and families'.
Dr. Schloss says social media is an ever-growing trend, and recommends other doctors jump on board.
"Don't talk about patient information, that's wrong, but if you want to engage with other doctors to find out what's going on in your field, give it a try."
