Company lets you race Lamborghini, Ferrari for $100

GLENDALE, AZ (CBS5) -

A luxury sports car rental company is offering you the chance to race a Ferrari or Lamborghini on a makeshift race course set up in a vacant parking lot at the Westgate entertainment complex in Glendale.

The 'Dream Car Sprint', offered by Gotham Dream Cars, is a chance for the average Joe or Jane to pilot an Italian sports car for a price most people are surprised to see.

The cost is $99 to race four laps on the circuit. Tickets can be purchased through third party discount websites:

Gotham Dream Cars is primarily a luxury rental car business. The company, though, was looking for ways to utilize its high end cars while they were just sitting on the lots.

The idea of dream car sprints spun out of that necessity and the company has branched out nationwide with this new venture.

"The second they get on the gas and turn the wheel, there's a smile from ear to ear," said Damien Torres as he oversees the day's action in Westgate. "People love it."

Scratch one off the bucket list today for Valley resident Marin Jerolimov. He is set to be married next week and racing the Lamborghini Gallardo was an early wedding gift from his soon-to-be wife.

"It was definitely worth it. Absolutely," said Jerolimov. "It's a once in a lifetime experience."

The company will be at Westgate through this weekend. They will return the weekend of April 14. Company staff expects about 250 people to participate in the program this weekend.

    The Tucson Police Department is asking for the public's help locating 17-year-old Anthony Garcia. The teen is described as Hispanic, 5'10" tall, weighing 150 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Although he is in his late teens, according to the release, he has special needs and functions at a much younger age.
