TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A suspect kicked out a police car window and tried to escape shortly before noon Sunday, Tucson Police Sgt. Chris Widmer told Tucson News Now.

Tyson Guerrero, 23, was being taken to the Pima County jail on felony and misdemeanor warrants when he got out of his seat belt and kicked out the back window, Widmer said.

When the police officer slowed down on Interstate 10 near Speedway Boulevard, Guerrero jumped out of the window. He suffered road burns, a broken foot and ankle and was hospitalized, Widmer said.

He will be taken to jail later, with the added charge of attempted escape, Widmer said.
