TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

An animal activist has equipped a local fire district with life-saving tools for pets.

The Drexel Heighs Fire District received a donation of five pet mask kits Monday from resident Roberta Wright.

The Pet America Oxygen Masks will be placed on every engine and the rescue truck, according to the Drexel Heights Fire District. They will help animals that have been exposed to fire smoke.

Wright is the founder of SPEAK, Supporting & Promoting Ethics for the Animal Kingdom.

"It is wonderful to see residents like Roberta spearheading this effort," Division Chief of Operations Dane Crouse said. "This will allow us to provide additional services to the community and save lives of pets which are part of our resident families."
