Police have arrested a Chandler man accused of killing his live-in girlfriend.
Police said the victim, Deborah Courtney, was found dead on March 29 on the floor of the master bedroom in the couple's home on West Warner Road.
The victim's boyfriend, Gerald Culverson, 57, told responding officers that he called 911 after he awoke to what he believed was the sound of Courtney falling out of the bed.
Culverson also told police that Courtney had fallen about a week before and had not been taking her medication. He said the two had been doing some heavy drinking.
According to the police report, detectives found that Courtney had blunt force trauma to her head and had severe bite marks as well as bruising on her chin, throat and ribs.
Detectives believe Courtney was dead for some time before Culverson called 911.
During his interview, Culverson had a medical issue and was taken to the hospital. Once released from the hospital, he was booked into jail on one count of second-degree murder.
