CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Local businesses are preparing for another Reds season, but there are new bars and restaurants in the Banks that are hoping to benefit from more Reds foot traffic.

Fans packed the street to celebrate Opening Day on Monday.

The Yard House has only been open for one week but that didn't stop locals from stopping by.

"It's a wonderful day to introduce lots of fans to Yard House," said Drew Minervino.

Drew Minervino says they've exceeded all expectations in their first week, and they're hopeful the Reds will just add to their early success.

"There's tons of development going on downtown at the Banks area, and we're really, really happy to be a part of it," added Minervino.

The Reds are sharing opening day with Jimmy Johns. Owner Brian Schaaf says they specifically opened their doors on April 1 knowing there would be a big crowd.

"We're anticipating upwards to $11,000 to $12,000 worth of business today," said Schaaf.

Schaaf says they're expecting today to be one of the largest openings in franchise history, and they're thrilled with their new location.

"We're going to have 81 baseball games. We have about 10 football games. We have the OSU spring game coming, so I'm very excited," said Schaaf.

Fans are just excited to have a convenient location to eat or drink before and after the game.

"We're used to crowds, but in Cincinnati, this is a little new but it's great," said Joe Duran.

"It's just a great atmosphere here. All these restaurants, bars and stuff like that, it keeps people down here after games. It's just great for the city," added Kyle Linder.

Many business owners at the Banks say they're pulling for the Reds to get over the hump and win it all this year because the longer their season is, the more business it means for them.
