TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Tucson Bus Riders Union is holding a community meeting to discuss the future of the main bus station downtown.

The community meeting about the Ronstadt Transit Center will take place at 5:30 tonight at the Rialto Theatre.

The community forum is not part of the City of Tucson's yet-to-be-scheduled public meetings. The City Council voted in February to move forward and develop the bus hub to bring in money.

Suzanne Schafer, a member of the Bus Riders Union, said that since the City of Tucson had yet to schedule public meetings, the union decided to go ahead and plan its own.

Schafer said she is pleased with the city's decision to keep the Ronstadt Bus Station where it is, however the union really wants to be involved in determining who is going to control and manage it.

The community meeting tonight is a way to make sure they are part of the whole process.

Organizers will be recording the meeting to present community feedback to the city council.
