JC Hoops: Peabody back at Pima

Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College men's basketball program has a new coach. Brian Peabody accepted the head coaching position Tuesday morning and will begin his second stint with the Pima. The hiring is pending Governing Board approval.

Peabody coached the Pima men's basketball team from 2003-2004. He brings 29 years of coaching experience; 20 years as a head coach. He has been familiar with the high school coaching scene in Tucson with stops at Ironwood Ridge (2007-2013), Salpointe Catholic (1993-2003), St. Gregory College Prep. (1992-1993) and Green Fields Country Day (1990-1992). He was also an Assistant Coach at Western Carolina University (2004-2005).

He is a seven-time Southern Arizona High School Basketball Coach of the Year and two-time Arizona High School Basketball Coach of the Year. His high school teams have won two State Championships along with four state championship runner-up appearances. Peabody also has 442 wins as a high school men's basketball head coach which is the highest among active coaches.

"It feels like home," Coach Peabody said on how it feels to be back at Pima. "Edgar and his staff have been very supportive making the transition very smooth. I have a lot of unfinished business from the first time around. It's very exciting to be back."
