Reds fall to Nationals in extra innings

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The Reds fell to the Washington Nationals in extra innings on Saturday afternoon

Down 1-5 in the seventh, the Reds came alive in the eighth.

After a two-run rally in the eighth, Shin-Soo Choo homered in the bottom of the ninth to bring the Reds within one. Votto tripled to center and scored after a wild pitch by Rafael Soriano to take the game to extra innings.

Solo home runs off of Hoover by Ian Desmond and Wilson Ramos in the eleventh gave the Nationals a two-run lead.

Phillips doubled in the bottom of the eleventh bring Votto home from second. Phillips was left stranded on second losing 6-5.

Stammen gets the win for the Nationals.

The series is tied at 1-1. Game three will be on Sunday with first pitch at 1:10 p.m.
