Reminder fire danger still high despite rain, less wind

MT. LEMMON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Despite overnight rain here in Southern Arizona, the fire danger is still present today.

This morning the Coronado National Forest is updating its danger status.

Fire officials will speak about the potential dangers, conditions of the Coronado National Forest and an update on their resources to battle any fire situation later this morning.

Yesterday many residents saw just how dangerous the windy conditions can be, as Northwest Firefighters battled a brush fire under the Santa Cruz River bridge off Cortaro Road.  Crews found a large area of heavy fuels burning and spreading fast due to the high winds.

Northwest Fire also would like to remind everyone to use extra caution when working or dealing with an open fire, whether barbecuing or smoking.
