Dad charged after preschooler is shot in the arm

A Cincinnati man is charged with child endangerment after his preschooler accidentally shoots himself.

On Thursday police were called to Children's Hospital to investigate a 3-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his arm.

The boy's father, Lorenzo McMullen, reported to police that his son was accidentally shot in the arm after the boy pulled a loaded pistol out from underneath McMullen's mattress.

McMullen says that when the boy pulled the gun out, it discharged, shooting the boy in the arm.

After striking the preschooler, the bullet exited the home and got stuck in the roof of a nearby residence.

The child was admitted for the night to the hospital for precautionary reasons.

Cincinnati police report that the child is expected to released soon.

McMullen was arrested on one count of child endangering and one count of having a weapon while under disability.
