Sunnyside School District Superintendent Manuel Isquierdo has withdrawn his name as finalist for a superintendent position in San Antonio.
San Antonio School District board members unanimously voted Isquierdo as the lone finalist for the position, but have recently expressed financial and legal concerns regarding the candidate.
Isquierdo supposedly owes $150,000 in federal taxes, had thousands in credit card charges disallowed by the Tucson district, and had his driver's license suspended because of unpaid fines and failing to appear in court. He also lost his home.
SAISD Board President Ed Garza sent a letter to district employees to confirm Isquierdo's withdrawal, and Isquierdo has responded with a letter to Garza.
You can find both letters and the story attached.
