TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Tucson officials have made a statement on the Boston Marathon explosions. TPD is currently "monitoring locations in Tucson where large crowds gather." The following is a letter sent by TPD Sergeant Chris Widmer.

Per City Manager Richard Miranda:

I am sure you are aware of the tragic events that occurred today at the Boston Marathon. Our deepest sympathy goes out to those families who have been affected by these bombings.

Following the incidents in Boston, Tucson Police and Tucson Fire officials have been in communication with the Arizona Counter Terrorism Information Center (ACTIC) in Phoenix and are monitoring updates from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Tucson police officers in coordination with the University of Arizona are monitoring locations in Tucson where large crowds gather.

At this time, according to the ACTIC and the DHS, intelligence indicates that there are no additional threats in Tucson or anywhere else in the country.
