CASA GRANDE (Tucson News Now) - The Border Patrol saved three suspected illegal immigrants trapped in the trunk of a burning car over the weekend.

The Border Patrol says an agent working near Route 15 observed a suspicious car.  As he tried to stop it, the car suddenly stopped and burst into flames.  We're told four people jumped out and ran off and two were quickly arrested.  A third person returned to the scene and told agents that there were people locked in the trunk.

Agents managed to open the trunk and rescue one adult and two juveniles who were trapped inside. The juveniles were suffering from symptoms of smoke inhalation and were subsequently transported to the hospital for treatment.  A short time later, agents apprehended the fourth person who ran off.

Tohono O'odham Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire that had also spread into nearby brush.

All seven individuals were determined to be Mexican nationals illegally present in the U.S.
