San Tan Walmart evacuated for suspicious package

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Authorities in Pinal County said a Walmart store in San Tan Valley was evacuated Saturday afternoon when a suspicious package was reported.

Pinal County Sheriff spokesman Tim Gaffney said their office got a call about a suspicious 5-gallon bucket sitting on the ground between two cars near the west side entrance of Walmart at Hunt highway and Gary Road. The store was quickly evacuated.

Gaffney said their deputies called the Arizona Department of Public Safety bomb squad and K9 team to assist in checking out the bucket.

The bucket turned out to contain spray paint and was deemed harmless. The store soon reopened.
