TUCSON, AZ – Tucson local, Vern Roberts, won the 55-plus division at the United States Handball Association's Masters Singles Tournament in San Diego, Calif. on April 11-14.
Roberts beat Marc Penick from Poway, Calif. in the final, 21-12, 21-9 at the San Diego Racquet and Tennis Club.
This title is just one more thing to add to Roberts impressive resume. He is a Hall of Famer and is the Executive Director of the United States Handball Association. He is a national champion in doubles and singles in three- and four-wall. Roberts also won the 1986 World Four-Wall singles title to go with 3 three-wall singles titles, 8 three-wall doubles titles and 4 four-wall doubles.
The USHA Hall of Fame has been located in Tucson, Arizona since 1982.
