SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (Tucson News Now) - Tucson sector Border Patrol Agents rescued a Mexican national from a cliff near Sierra Vista early Sunday morning.

Agents at the Brian A. Terry Border Patrol station responded to reports regarding an injured illegal immigrant stranded in Coronado National Park.

Agents located the man, who had reportedly been abandoned by his group and had sustained a leg injury, unable to continue walking. Border Patrol EMTs rescued the man using ropes and a basket carrier as the terrain was too mountainous for a safe helicopter rescue.

The man was medically evaluated and taken to a local medical facility for further care.
