TUCSON, Ariz. (TucsonNewsNow) It's the first of it's kind in Tucson. The Tucson Parks and
Recreation is offering a new bike rental program at Lincoln Park on the eastside.
The 200 acre park offers a three mile linear path. Project leaders say the new Atturbury Wash Greenway path just opened last week and cost more than a million dollars to build.
Bike rentals include a helmet and are rented on a first come, first-served basis. Park Manager, Liz Baechler says they only have about eight bikes, many of which were donated, but they are hoping to get more in.
The bike rentals are available at the William Clements Regional Center on Monday through Saturday.
Baechler says they have bikes for the whole family.
"Not everyone has a bike in their garage or backyard so it just gives someone the opportunity to come and rent one and just have a picnic. Or they can enjoy a leisure ride by themselves or with their friends."
Park leaders say they plan on connecting the path to the Pantano path in the future.
Lincoln Park is located at 4325 South Pantano Road.
