ASU student dies in overseas hiking accident

TEMPE, AZ (CBS5) -

A student at Arizona State University has died while hiking in the United Kingdom. According to his family, Jared Maillet slipped on a patch of ice and fell off of a cliff while hiking a series of mountains in Wales.

The senior was majoring in sustainability and urban planning. Maillet was in the United Kingdom as part of an ASU exchange program at the University of Manchester. Arizona State officials said the university is offering counseling services for those who knew Maillet.
