Michael Graham of City of Tucson says Tommy Obermaier's civil service appeal hearing is at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Hardesty Center.
There's no guarantee Obermaier will be at the hearing, and if so, he can ask the media to leave.
Obermaier was deputy director of the Tucson Convention Center and was dismissed after 18 years of employment.
An investigation revealed Obermaier's failure to heed warnings that his actions violated city policy and a lack of vigilant supervision by managers.
Obermaier, 51, was placed on leave August 21 and continued to collect his salary of $48.41 an hour plus benefits, totaling $38,890 through January 12.
The investigation found that Obermaier mismanaged bookings, mishandled contracts and co-promoted events for which he was also the TCC booking agent.
The city says Obermaier's mismanagement cost "a minimum of $143,000."
