Man killed in officer-involved shooting

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Tucson Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting this afternoon in the 5300 block of E. Ferry, near Craycroft and 29th Street.

Police received a 911 call around 1:20 p.m. from a woman in the area who said an unknown man was in the dog house in her backyard.

Police responded to the scene and found that the man allegedly had a handgun. They say when they asked the man to drop his weapon he raised his gun and that's when shots were fired.

Two officers opened fire, killing the man on the scene. The officers were uninjured.

We're told it was a 33 year old man.  His name is not being identified until next of kin is notified.

The two officers will be on a paid administrative leave.

Organizers said after seeing all of the recent tragedies, they felt compelled to do something to make a difference. 58 people lost their lives in the mass shooting at a country concert in Las Vegas.
