DETROIT (AP) - A spokesman for Marathon Petroleum says no injuries have been reported after a fire broke out at a refinery in Detroit.

Shane Pochard tells The Associated Press the fire occurred Saturday evening in 1 of the small tanks at the Marathon Petroleum refinery. He says the fire has been put out.

Pochard says there are no reports of any injuries to employees or contractors.

He says the fire department in nearby Melvindale issued an evacuation for residents of that city. He says those residents were sent to a local community center.

Fire officials could not be immediately reached for comment.

The refinery is located at Interstate 75 and Fort Street.
