Local school wins academic decathlon title

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A local high school has returned from a national academic decathlon with a championship finish this past weekend.

The Canyon Del Oro Academic Decathlon Team placed 8th overall at the National Finals in Minneapolis, Minn. on April 27.

CDO was named the Division II Champions for having the highest score of any medium-sized school.    

Forty-nine teams of nine students from each school participated in the Academic Decathlon and matched their intellects in multiple categories, including art, economics, language, literature, math, music, science, social science, an essay portion, interview and speech test.
