TUCSON, Ariz. – Senior Edgar Rivera-Morales has been named the Pac-12 Men's Field Athlete of the Week. The Pac-12 Conference announced the honorees on Tuesday. It is the second time this year that Rivera-Morales has been honored.
Senior Edgar Rivera-Morales from Agua Prieta, Mexico set a meet record and tied a venue record on Saturday at Sun Angel Stadium. Rivera-Morales won the men's high jump competition at the UA-ASU-NAU Double Dual with a mark of 7-5.75 (2.28m). That mark ties a personal best for Rivera-Morales and is also tied for the No. 2 jump in UA history. Rivera-Morales is now ranked No. 3 in the country this year and is tied for No. 6 in the world. Maurice Crumby of Arizona set the previous meet record in 1986; he jumped 7-4.25 (2.25m). He tied the venue record that was set in 1994 by Tray Barlay of Blinn College.
