Some up and coming scientists got a great opportunity today at Ventana Medical Systems.
A group of local high school students spent the day in the labs doing real hands-on science as part of Young Scientists Day.
The scientists at Ventana are hoping that by being exposed to the real world applications of science and technology the students will pursue a career in the field.
Dr. Eric Walk, Ventana Chief Medical Officer said, "So they're going to be able to see how chemistry can enable a pathologist to see individual genes, and they're actually going to run that reaction today and then look at the result of that reaction under the microscope to see genes in actual cancer cells."
Each student was given their own lab coat to take home.
