High winds whipping across the Valley today

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Winds are already picking up across the Valley today. This morning, Glendale has sustained winds at 28 mph, with gusts clocking at 33 mph.

It has been windy in Chandler all morning with gusts up to 33 mph.

Winds in Mesa are sustaining between 10-20 mph. These winds helped fan the flames of a mobile home fire this morning.

Winds will be out of the northeast today, subsiding just a bit this afternoon. Winds will pick back up by this evening.

The front that is moving through Arizona will cause windy conditions across the entire state.  Flagstaff has already experienced a wind gust at 40 mph and Lake Havasu at 43 mph.

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning because of the high fire danger across much of the state.

In addition to the winds, the air is extremely dry. Relative humidity will remain in the single digits.

There is a high wind warning across Southern California, where firefighters continue to battle a large wildfire. Gusts could reach 60 mph today.

Winds will remain breezy in the Valley for tomorrow but will subside for the weekend.

Temperatures will stay in the mid 90s through Sunday with cooler air moving in by Monday.
