Chandler city councilman eyes seat in House District 17

CHANDLER, AZ (CBS5) -

A Chandler city councilman is eyeing a run for a state House seat in Legislative District 17.

Jeff Weninger filed paperwork with the state on Thursday to form an exploratory committee. 

Weninger is serving his second term on Chandler Council and previously served as vice mayor. He also currently holds a Republican precinct committeeman seat in District 17. In addition, Weninger has run five successful Valley restaurants as co-owner for the last 17 years.

He is a lifelong Republican and has lived in the East Valley for 20 years.
