State automotive students compete for the finals

GLENDALE, AZ (CBS5) -

Twenty high school students from across the state competed to go to the national finals for the Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills Competition.

Two-person teams of 11th and 12th-grade automotive technology students gathered at Glendale Community College Friday morning and raced against the clock to correctly identify and fix "bugs" intentionally installed on a 2013 Ford Focus.

To participate, students had to earn one of the state's top scores in a online exam.

According to organizers from Ford and AAA, the competition offers millions of scholarships and provides future career opportunities to automotive students.

The winners from Friday's competition will continue on to the national finals in Dearborn, MI at Ford Motor Company Headquarters.
