Marana middle school students sweep PSA contest

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Broadcasting and video students from a Marana middle school swept three categories of a recent anti-bullying public service announcement contest.

Seventeen students from Tortolita Middle School were among contestants from around the world in the "Step Up, Speak Out, End Bullying PSA Contest." Their PSAs were shown at the Loft Cinema at the Showcase & Awards Event on April 27.

Mikayla Curcio won the Grand Prize with her PSA, "What if that were You?"  Curcio received an iPad Mini and her video will appear on Cox Cable TV this fall.

Alison Plocki's "What will they Think?" was the runner-up.

Cyan Cornett won the Radio Ready prize for "Don't Be Afraid." She will get to work with Bobby Rich from MixFM to convert her video into a radio spot, which will play on MixFM in the fall.
