Phoenix to host state's largest gun buyback

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Phoenix is getting ready to host the largest gun buyback program in the state's history.

On Monday, Gov. Jan Brewer signed a law that keeps cities from destroying guns collected during buybacks.

But because this buyback is happening before the law takes effect, guns turned over at this event will be melted down.

Gift cards are being offered to those who turn in firearms.

Phoenix's big buyback is happening over the next three Saturdays.
