Pinal rescuers helping hiker at Picacho Peak

PINAL COUNTY, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A hiker overcome by the heat needed assistance Saturday at Picacho Peak, Pinal County Sheriff's public information officer Tamra Ingersoll said.

Deputies and rescue personnel were assisting the man around noon, Ingersoll said. He refused transport to the hospital.

A park ranger was with the hiker on the Santa Vista Trail as emergency personnel arrived.

The hiker was 2.1 miles up on the trail and was walked to safety.

High temperatures were expected to be around 90 degrees in Pinal County, Tucson News Now First Alert Meteorologist Cuyler Diggs said.
