Police agencies made 274 DUI arrests in the first two days of a saturation patrol, the Governor's Office of Highway Safety told Tucson News Now on Sunday.
Law enforcement agencies were planning more Sunday night for Cinco de Mayo, with task forces around the state doubling their efforts to crack down.
More than 500 officers participated on the first two days, with 2,854 stops.
Of the 274 arrests, 76 were for extreme DUI. The average blood-alcohol content was 0.153 percent.
Police expect more sweeps in May with high school graduations and Memorial Day weekend coming up later in May.
