TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

And then there was one.

Ironwood Ridge's Softball team is the lone Southern Arizona team left playing for hardware.

The Nighthawks (28-10) head to Tempe Monday night for the Division II Softball Championship game against top seed Peoria Sunrise Mountain.

The Mustangs are in the title game for a second straight season after posting a 35-1 record which includes their current 29-game win streak. Sunrise Mountain lost last year to CDO.

This is the final chance for the Nighthawks to bring home the brass ring for head coach Randy Anway. Anway has announced he will step down at the end of this his 11th season. IRHS has twice lost in the Final (2008 and 2011).

The 2008 loss came at the hands of the Mustangs, 10-0 in a six inning run-rule affair. Sunrise Mountain won back-to-back Class 5A Division II championships in 2008 and 2009 and are looking for their fourth state title overall.

Elsewhere this weekend, the title dream came to an end for the Tucson and Ironwood Ridge Baseball teams.

Both had beaten their Elimination Final opponents back on May 2nd in the early rounds of the Division I and II State Tournaments, but turn about is fair play.

Chaparral will get a chance to defend their title as the Firebirds knocked out the 2nd seeded Badgers 7-5 Saturday night at Tempe Diablo Stadium.

THMS was trying to win their first state championship since Tom Lundy's Badgers took back-to-back state titles in 1987 and 1988.

Ironwood Ridge's bid to add a baseball title to their 2012 football championship went by the wayside at the hands of Scottsdale Notre Dame Prep. In a tight affair, the Saints won 3-2 and will meet Sunnyslope in the Final.

The San Manuel (28-8) Softball team won its 1st state championship since 1994. The Miners beat top seed Phoenix Northwest Christian (28-6) 7-5 in Division IV. It's the 8th state softball title for San Manuel.

Desert Christian is also bringing home a trophy to Tucson. The Eagles (26-4) beat Phoenix Christian 11-9 to win the Division IV Baseball Championship.
