SCOTTSDALE, AZ (CBS5) -
Scottsdale police said a missing 5-year-old Scottsdale girl was taken by a man known by her family without permission before she was found at a house in Phoenix early Monday.
Mario Rivera Salgado, 42, was arrested Monday afternoon on suspicion of kidnapping.
"At this point in the investigation detectives have determined that they will submit a charge for kidnapping only," said Scottsdale police Officer David Pubins.
The girl went missing about 8 p.m. Sunday night while playing with other children outside their apartment at 7110 E. Continental Dr., about 20 minutes before her mother called police when she couldn't find the child, said Pubins.
Detectives said the man took the girl to the house without her mother's permission. Pubins said there was no sign of injury to the child and she was returned to her mother.
Pubins said Salgado lives in the same apartment complex as the girl. Pubins said kidnapping and additional charges are pending the completion of the investigation.
He did not say what led investigators to the Phoenix house or why Salgado took the child there.
No other information was immediately available.
