TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A traffic accident this morning involving a landscaping truck resulted in a hazardous materials situation on Tucson's south side.

The truck, which was carrying a weed-killing herbicide called Glysophate, collided with a car near East 22nd Street and South Alvernon Way at about 9:30 a.m.

The tank holding the herbicide remained intact, but a hose that was connected to it was leaking after the accident.

Crews stopped the leak and prevented herbicide from draining into waterways by using absorbent and diking procedures.

The truck driver was decontaminated at the scene because some of the herbicide got on him.

The spilled herbicide was cleaned up and taken away from the accident scene.
