Shots fired, marijuana grow operation discovered in midtown drug deal

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Tucson Police closed 4th Avenue between 4th and 5th streets in midtown Friday night after reports of shots fired, Sgt. Chris Widmer told Tucson News Now.

No one was arrested or injured, but police found a bullet-riddled car and a shoebox full of money, Widmer said.

The incident was an apparent drug deal gone bad, and investigators found a hydroponic-marijuana-growing operation in a home in the 600 Block of N. 4th Avenue.

Witnesses told police a man came out of the house and fired at a car around 7:10 p.m.

The car with bullet holes was abandoned, and when the occupants fled, they apparently dropped a shoebox with cash, Widmer said.

No one was inside the home on 4th Avenue, but officers investigated the marijuana operation.
