A former officer who is allegedly involved in online sharing and distributing of child pornography in Tucson was arrested by U.S. Marshals on Friday night in Prescott, AZ.
According to the Tucson Police Department, Martin Ward, 29, was wanted for sexual exploitation of a minor.
The Internet Crimes Against Children Unit initiated an investigation in March, which police say led them to the discovery of multiple file sharing of investigative interest in a residence in the 9200 block of E. Palm Tree Drive.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence, and upon further investigation on May 9, police say they discovered multiple videos depicting child pornography.
An arrest warrant was obtained for Ward on May 10 for one count of sexual exploitation of a minor.
Further charges are pending.
Ward was hired by the Tucson Police Department in April of 2007 and he resigned in December of 2012 in lieu of termination as the result of an unrelated internal investigation, according to Tucson police.
