TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Federal investigators are revealing more tonight about the bust involving a former Tucson Police Officer accused of sharing child pornography over the internet.
Investigators arrested 29-year-old Martin Ward Friday night at a motel in Prescott Valley.
An employee at Super 8 Motel tells Tucson News Now, Ward had checked in Friday afternoon and was planning on only staying one night. The employee added Ward was acting normal and didn't appear suspicious.
But, investigators paint a different picture. They seized several items from Ward's motel room including something that would help disguise him like his hair.
Investigators with the U.S. Marshal's Office have been on Ward's trail for more than a month now. They raided his East-side home on Thursday and found several child porn videos.
Neighbors say it's concerning.
"We have an elementary school here. We have a junior high school this way and we have a lot of children walking to and from school every day," said Bea Swanson.
"I didn't realize it was an officer but it was a shock to hear about it," said another neighbor.
Ward quit the force in December after about five years when he was faced with an internal investigation.
He remains in jail tonight and is waiting to be brought back to Pima County.
