Tucson, AZ - The Tucson Padres broke a 1-1 tie in the eighth by sending ten batters to plate and scoring five runs and defeated the Round Rock Express 6-1 Saturday at Kino Stadium.

The Padres scored first in the third when Daniel Robertson grounded out with a runner at third. Tucson held the lead until the seventh when Jim Adduci doubled home Joey Butler for Round Rock's first run. Gregorio Petit reclaimed the lead for the Padres in the bottom of the eighth with a bases-loaded walk to force in the go-ahead run. Rene Rivera's RBI single to left followed by Cody Decker's two-run single gave Tucson a 5-1 advantage. The final run of the inning came on Dean Anna's RBI groundout to third base.

The Express had the bases full with two outs in the ninth, but Colt Hynes came in to strike out the final batter of the game to seal the victory. Tommy Layne earned his first win for Tucson, while Round Rock reliever Evan Meek lost his second game of the year.

Padres starting pitcher Tim Stauffer pitched seven innings and allowed only one run. Padres starters have allowed one earned run or less in six of the last seven games.
