National Prevention Week is a time for communities to come together and focus on the importance of preventing substance abuse and promoting mental, emotional and behavioral well-being.
National Prevention Weeks echoes a key message of the U.S. Surgeon General's National Prevention Strategy, emphasizing that prevention should be woven into all aspects of our lives.
During National Prevention Week, the Drug and Poison Information Center will focus on informing the community about the effects of underage drinking and its impact on children, families and the community.
Additionally, the Making a Difference campaign will provide youth, teachers and parents with resources to promote awareness about underage drinking , provide prevention techniques and supply tips for starting conversation with youths about the effects and importance of abstaining from alcohol use until the legal age of 21.
