The sun continues exploding energy as it reaches the forecast peak of the 11 year energy cycle this year.
A weekend eruption caught on camera by a NASA satellite is the most powerful yet seen from the sun this year.
The eruption occurred at 7:17 PM (Arizona time) on Sunday.
The origin of the eruption was on an are of the sun not facing the satellite.
Only the resulting explosion, known as a Coronal Mass Ejection or CME, was seen on the satellite instruments.
The energy from the CME is not going to impact Earth.
