Beer bandit threatens clerk, escapes

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Sheriff's Department Robbery Assault Unit is currently investigating an incident involving an unusual beer theft in the Foothills from late April.

According to deputies with the Sheriff's Department Foothills District, a male suspect attempted to rob a Circle K store in the 4900 block of N. Oracle Road on April 24, using beer as his weapon.

The suspect attempted to leave the store with a 24-pack of Bud Lite and a 24-pack of Budweiser without paying, when the clerk locked the doors to prevent the suspect's escape.

He then grabbed two beer bottles and waived them around, threatening harm if the clerk did not open the doors. She did, and the suspect escaped

He is described as a Hispanic male, last seen wearing black pants and a black t-shirt.

Anyone with information on the suspect is urged to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
