The Arizona Department of Transportation sure has its work cut out this weekend. There are multiple road closures Valley drivers need to know about.
Eastbound Loop 101 will be shut down between 35th and Seventh avenues from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for rubberized asphalt paving. As an alternate, eastbound Loop 101 traffic can use the Beardsley frontage road and re-enter the Loop 101 at Seventh Avenue.
Next, both Interstate 17 ramps to eastbound Loop 101 will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, also for rubberized asphalt paving. Drivers can exit at Deer Valley Road or Union Hills Drive and travel east to Seventh Avenue to access Loop 101.
Southbound Interstate 17 will be closed at Bell Road from 11 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday for overhead message sign work. Traffic will detour along the off- and on-ramps at Bell Road.
In addition, southbound Interstate 17 will be shut down at Thunderbird Road from 11 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday for overhead message sign work. Traffic will detour along the off- and on-ramps at Thunderbird.
The westbound Interstate 10 ramp to northbound Loop 101 will be closed overnight from 9 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday for guardrail maintenance. Consider exiting and traveling north on 91st Avenue and west on McDowell Road to access Loop 101.
Just as an FYI, expect delays on Grand Avenue (U.S. 60) between 71st and 75th avenues because the area will be narrowed to one lane for utility work. Eastbound Grand Avenue at 84th Avenue will also be narrowed to one lane. This traffic restriction will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. ADOT is asking drivers to slow down and use caution in work zones.
