MARICOPA, AZ (CBS5) -

A 34-year-old man was arrested and booked into jail on domestic violence charges after he barricaded himself inside a Maricopa home Thursday night.

Maricopa police said Ryan C. Schwab was booked on one count of domestic violence in a domestic violence situation in which Pinal County sheriff's deputies and Maricopa police officers responded.

The incident reportedly started as a domestic violence call in the Rancho El Dorado area of Maricopa.

The police report said Schwab and his live-in girlfriend has been drinking and got in a fight. His girlfriend ran across the street screaming for help after being cut with a knife and a neighbor called police.

Schwab refused to come out of the house. He ultimately surrendered and claimed his girlfriend had slashed her own throat.
