The idea is to really saturate the streets with cops, and that's exactly what's going to be happening across our community for the next two weeks.
That said, you're going to want to buckle up every time you get into your vehicle not only because it's the law, but because local and state police practice a zero tolerance policy during this particular enforcement.
The citation numbers in Tucson are pretty consistent from one year to the next. What's increasing is the number of contacts between motorists and police, which is likely to continue this year. It's also why it's in everybody's best interest to just buckle up.
"It's always a priority...first thing. Gotta have your seatbelt or you're not coming with me. Simple as that."
If you're looking for some added incentive to buckle up, motor vehicle collisions are the number one cause of death in Arizona and across the United States.
Of all the people who die in traffic collisions every year, just about half of them were not wearing a seatbelt.
