'Click it or Ticket' locally enforced

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The idea is to reallysaturate the streets with cops, and that's exactly what's going to be happeningacross our community for the next two weeks.

That said, you're going towant to buckle up every time you get into your vehicle not only because it'sthe law, but because local and state police practice a zero tolerance policyduring this particular enforcement.

The citation numbers in Tucsonare pretty consistent from one year to the next. What's increasing is thenumber of contacts between motorists and police, which is likely to continuethis year. It's also why it's in everybody's best interest to just buckle up.

"It's always apriority...first thing. Gotta have your seatbelt or you're not coming with me.Simple as that."

If you're looking for someadded incentive to buckle up, motor vehicle collisions are the number one causeof death in Arizona and across the United States.

Ofall the people who die in traffic collisions every year, just about half ofthem were not wearing a seatbelt.
