Troopers find nearly $63K of cocaine hidden in boots

DAYTON, OH (Toledo News Now) -

An Indiana man is facing felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized three-quarters of a kilo of cocaine, worth nearly $63,000, following a traffic stop in Preble County Wednesday.

Troopers stopped a 2007 Dodge Charger with Indiana registration for a speed violation on Interstate 70 eastbound near milepost 8 at 11:20 a.m. Troopers observed criminal indicators and a Patrol drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle.

A probable cause search revealed three packages of vacuum-sealed cocaine inside two pairs of boots.

The driver, Eugene Graves, 33, of Indianapolis, was incarcerated in the Preble County Jail. He has been charged with possession of cocaine, which is a first-degree felony, as well as possession of criminal tools, which is a fifth-degree felony.

If convicted, Graves could face up to 11 years in prison and up to a $22,500 fine.
