Funeral services for Phoenix Firefighter Brad Harper will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Christ's Church of the Valley, 7007 W. Happy Valley Rd. in Peoria. He will be buried at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery at 719 N. 27th Ave. in Phoenix.

Harper died after he was crushed between two fire vehicles at a mulch fire May 18. He is survived by his wife, Lena.

The funeral procession for Harper will take the following route on Friday between 3 and 7 p.m.:

  • Start at 7007 W. Happy Valley Rd.
  • West from 7000 W. Happy Valley Rd. to 67th Avenue
  • South on 67th Avenue to SR 101
  • East on SR 101 to the I-17
  • South on I-17, exiting on McDowell Road
  • Westbound on McDowell Road to 27th Avenue
  • Southbound on 27th Avenue to the west entrance of the Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery at 2300 W. Van Buren
  • South on 27th Avenue to Van Buren
  • Eastbound on Van Buren, where the fire trucks will be parked on Van Buren, from 27th Avenue to the I-17

Van Buren from the I-17 to 27th Avenue will be closed from approximately 3 p.m. until the internment ceremony concludes at approximately 7 p.m.

Funeral services for Phoenix police officer Daryl Raetz will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Christ's Church of the Valley, 7007 W. Happy Valley Rd., in Peoria.

Interment will be at Phoenix Memorial Park in Phoenix immediately after the funeral services.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Shadow Mountain Mortuary, 2350 E. Greenway Rd., in Phoenix.

Raetz was killed in the line of duty while working the scene of a DUI arrest near 51st Avenue and Cambridge early Sunday morning.

Raetz, 29, an Iraq war veteran, joined the Phoenix Police Department on June 8, 2007.

He is survived by his wife, young daughter, mother, father and brother.

The funeral procession for Raetz will take the following route on Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.:

  • Start at 7007 W. Happy Valley Rd.
  • West from 7000 W. Happy Valley Rd. to 67th Avenue
  • South on 67th Avenue to SR 101
  • East on SR 101 to Seventh Street
  • North on Seventh Street, to the westbound SR 101 Frontage Road
  • Westbound on SR 101 Frontage Road to the Phoenix Memorial Cemetery at 200 W. Beardsley

As the last of the procession passes the check points, the roads will be reopened, but officials warn to expect significant delays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Phoenix Law Enforcement Association and the Phoenix Professional Fire Fighters of Arizona hosted a barbecue this week with all the proceeds going directly to the families of Raetz and Harper.
